Yes. Bruce died senior year in a single car crash on 169 and Londonderry Rd. His passenger was Dave Head - a junior I believe. They had been out partying a bit too much in his new Chevy Nova SS and lost control at a very high rate of speed.
Quiet as he was, he was a good guy with a good heart that paid heavily for a common mistake kids make at that age.

Yes, I remember and miss Bruce and Dave. I remember racing them up - down 169 and drag racing from the end of the crosstown at shady oak road. Their accident caused many of us to slow down!

I remember Bruce well. A very quiet and nice guy. He died in the spring of 1979 not too long before we graduated. I remember attending his funeral at the church on highway 100 at 70th. It was a tough loss, especially when coupled with the loss of Mrs. Canakes not too long before. Although somber at his funeral, what really broke me up was when his parents were so kind and thoughtful as to send me a graduation card wishing me well - even though their son would not take those same steps across that stage in early June, 1979. I still think of Bruce, and his parents, fondly. God's speed to them.
