While he and I were never fast friends, Todd was always kind and warm in our interactions. Before Todd's amazing success with Cross Country running, I never grasped what it meant to be truly dedicated to a sport. It was impossible to miss Todd running about Edina. If I recall correctly, he experienced heart-breaking losses in two State Championship races, while leading just prior to the finish line, yet he never let that hinder him in chasing excellence. I am sorry to read that he is no longer with us.
I wasn't super close to Todd, but he lived near my neighborhood and I knew him while attending Edina
West. He was a super nice guy with a great sense of humor. He was always friendly with me, whether it was on the school bus or seeing him while he was running in the neighborhood. Like many of my classmates, I lost track of him after graduation, but he was one that I was certain would be successful in whatever he planned to do with his life. He always impressed me as being a driven and determined person who was very kind and intelligent. Rest well, Todd. God bless you.
I was very sad to see this. I haven't seen Todd in a long time, but we lived very close to each other and I always really liked him. He had a paper route and I remember subbing for him when he was unavailable. A silly memory I suppose, but it's what I think of when I remember him. Rest in peace Todd
This is very sad. Todd was a great friend and teammate in high school. Although I was nowhere near able to compete with him in running, I enjoyed a lot of miles training with him during the summers and xc season. I agree with other comments about his smile and intelligence and despite his many talents, including being a national caliber Nordic skier and biathlete, I found him to be incredibly humble. Unfortunately after losing touch with him during college, I always figured I’d run into him eventually …I’ll be thinking of Todd and his family in the coming months ,and although I can’t make it this year, during this year’s Finish the Run…
What a very special person. As so many have commented and I agree- Todd's smile was infectious, his mind brilliant and his althetic skills exceptional. I was fortunate to stay in contact with Todd while we were in College. He was a caring person whose personality exuded humility. This news is very sad as he was far to young to no longer be with us. Rest in peace my friend. You made this world a better place. Sending sincerest condolences to Todd's family.
I wasn't close to Todd, but was just crazy enough to try to train with he and a few others on the boys cross country team. Ironically, while crawling along at my older lady pace a week ago, I realized I fit a famous Todd comment from years ago. He used to say he appreciated Mr. Wiesner but could not run with him as it felt like "running with your parking break on." Todd, that is my pace now!I lost touch with Edinans for decades, since I left the area & we had several years of no tech post graduation. I had assumed Todd had a great life due to his many God given talents. Hope to catch up to you in Heaven when my time comes Todd.
Todd's passing feels incredibly poignant. Like others posting here, my memory of Todd is of him running with dedication. And always with this - smile. This special smile that expressed accomplishment and the joy of discipline. And kindness. I wasn't in his circle per se, but always was aware of his steady kimdness. Clearly, he has influenced many of us, likely without knowing. Decades have passed, but I sense he lived his life with the same quiet influence and kindness. Rest well, kind runner,
Chuck Mooty
Heavenly bound. Todd was incredibly brilliant, amazingly athletic, highly focused, a great sense of humor and always carried a magnificent smile.

It was very sad to hear of Todd's passing. Has an obituary been posted?
